The Muskogee Public Schools Department of Communications is focused on building relationships with students, parents, staff and the community through effective communication. With a focus on sharing important information and district news with our patrons, this division manages print and online publications, the district website, social media channels, media relations, video production and district events. This division also oversees requests for information from the media and the public.

Media Relations

Members of the media may schedule interviews and filming/photography by contacting the Superintendent's office at 918-684-3700 Ext. 1633.

For access to school property, school sites, classrooms, buildings, and all other Muskogee Public Schools facilities, media members must seek permission through the Communications Department. Generally, permission will be granted as long as the media member is accompanied by a member of the Communications Department, and the reporting activities do not disrupt school activities, interfere with the privacy of students or staff members, and do not jeopardize the safety of students, staff members, or visitors.

District Use

District groups may utilize the district's logos free of charge to produce items representing their team, unit or school site. These items must not represent the district as a whole. For example, the baseball booster club may use logos to sell Muskogee baseball hats, shirts or other apparel. Merchandise must mention Roughers Baseball instead of Muskogee Roughers, Muskogee Public Schools or only the logo. Also, PTA groups or school sites may use logos for one-time fundraisers, however, merchandise must mention the school site instead of Muskogee Roughers, Muskogee Public Schools or only the logo.

Restricted Use

In order to protect both its reputation and public at large, Muskogee Public Schools restricts the unauthorized usage of its name, trademarks, and logos.

Any unauthorized use of trademarks, logos or verbiage (registered by or identified with Muskogee Public Schools) constitutes a violation of Oklahoma laws governing trademark infringement and unfair competition. Oklahoma law permits the owner of a trademark to obtain injunctive relief restraining further infringement; money damages, including disgorgement of profits derived from the wrongful sale of trademarked merchandise; and an order requiring destruction of any such counterfeits or imitations in the offender’s possession. If necessary, the district will take appropriate legal action to protect its rights.

Approvals and Permission

All materials using the district's logos must be approved in advance by the communications department. Items will not be approved unless they are correctly used in conjunction with the logo style guide.
