Mondays with Mendenhall - March 25, 2019
I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and return refreshed and ready for the end of the school year. I had the opportunity to spend time with my family, caught up with the latest releases on Netflix and watched a lot of basketball – hope your team is still playing.
For educators, the month of April has a lot of meaning which often translates to student testing. Earlier in the school year, I discussed the current reality of our district test scores. There is definitely need for improvement in academic achievement, but I believe we are on the right track across the district.
I also realize that teachers feel apprehension during this time of the year as well, especially when you know students who have not reached all of the standards. I want to encourage you to continue working diligently to cover the appropriate material. Staying positive and then asking the students to do their best will help them perform well.
Finally, I have scheduled another superintendent’s coffee at each of the school sites. I will be discussing the details of the changes recently approved by the Board of Education and then, talking about the possible 2019 bond issue. I look forward to seeing each of you at the coffees.
Again, welcome back from spring break and I hope you have a great week.
