Mondays with Mendenhall - May 6, 2019
Thursday evening the Superintendent’s Academic Honors Banquet was held at the Muskogee Civic Center. It was a wonderful evening celebrating the accomplishments of our students across the district. I had the honor of putting the Medal of Legend on the neck of each student. It was easy to see the pride not only of the students who had put in so much work but also their parents who have put in work as well for their students.
That evening the district recognized the retirees from each site and those employees who work across the district that will retire at the end of the school year. It was great to see the students, families, principals and other employees celebrate and recognize the retirees who have given many years to our district.
We once again highlighted the Site Educators of the Year during the banquet and also named the District Teacher of the Year. Jacquie Hill from the Early Childhood Center was announced as the 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year for what was a great way to close out the evening.
It was also a remarkable lead into this week as we join district’s across the country in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week. It is an opportunity for our students, parents, community and district to show just how thankful and appreciative we are for the time, effort and energy that our teachers give to our students.
Thank you for serving the students and families of Muskogee Public Schools. You are making a difference not only in the lives of our students but also a difference in our community.
Have a great week!
