Good morning and Happy New Year!
Welcome back and I hope you had a fantastic break. It’s always nice to spend time with family and friends during the holidays but I’m sure you were ready to come back.
Many of us start off the new year looking back at the past year - what a year 2019 has been for Muskogee Public Schools! This past year has seen a new vision for the school district, the start of a new strategic plan and the passage of the largest bond issue in district history.
Now that we’re into a new decade, I began reflecting on the changes during this timeframe at MPS. The district saw innovation through the implementation of a student 1:1 program, students were provided hotspots through a T-Mobile grant, and teachers received the largest pay increase ever. It will be interesting to see where the district goes in the future.
It is so exciting to see what this decade has in store for MPS! The bond construction will be a focal point of the coming year and early part of the decade. However, I predict that our biggest accomplishments will be inside the classroom, students will perform better than ever before and families will begin choosing to live within the MPS attendance zone again.
May this year and decade start great for you, beginning today!
