Mr. Buell is in his second year as principal of the 7th & 8th Grade Academy at Ben Franklin. He joined Muskogee Public Schools from Tulsa Public Schools where he spent nearly ten years as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and assistant principal. Mr. Buell was named Teacher of the Year for the 2012-13 school year at Tulsa’s Edison Preparatory School. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mr. Buell earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education with an emphasis in Urban Education. He earned his Master of Education in Educational Administration from Northeastern State University. Mr. Buell serves as a Deacon at Harvard Avenue Christian Church.

Brian Doerner

A 1982 graduate of Muskogee High School, Mr. Doerner has been with the Muskogee Public School district since 1996. He began his teaching career at MHS as a Social Studies teacher and coached Wrestling from 1996-2007.
Mr. Doerner’s undergraduate degrees are in Political Science, History and Social Studies Education, with a Master’s in School Administration from Northeastern State University and holds an Oklahoma Secondary Principal’s Certificate. He also attended Saint Gregory’s College in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His secondary teaching credentials include American History, Oklahoma History, World History, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, and Special Education.
Mr. Doerner has been an Administrator at Alice Robertson Junior High School (ARJH) since 2012 and has served as 8th-grade principal as well as Director of the New Tech Academy at ARJH. Mr. Doerner is committed to Public Education and an advocate of Project-Based Learning. The New Tech Academy at ARJH is the first of its kind in the State of Oklahoma
Mr. Doerner serves on the District's Long Range Planning Committee and he is a member of the Muskogee County Board of Health.
Brian was recently honored as one of the top 18 in 2018 by the Action in Muskogee (AIM) Educational Excellence Committee for his outstanding support of and contributions to pursuit of excellence in education in the Muskogee Community.
Assistant Principal
Anayai Cooper

Anayai Cooper joins the Muskogee 7th & 8th Grade Academy at Ben Franklin administration for the 2020-2021 school year.
Since 2017, Cooper has served as assistant principal at Muskogee High School. She previously was the Assistant Principal at Ben Franklin Science Academy from 2011-2017. Cooper taught Middle School Reading from 2008-2011 at BFSA. Prior to her time at BFSA, Cooper was an elementary teacher at Irving Elementary beginning in 2000.
Cooper earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and a Master’s of Education from Northeastern State University. In 2010, she was named BFSA Site Teacher of the Year.
Anayai has three adult children and is the proud grandparent of a granddaughter. Her husband is the Assistant Pastor at Faith Deliverance Christian Center in Muskogee. An avid reader with a voracious appetite for books about the Holocaust. In her spare time, Cooper loves spending time with her children and her church family.
Dean of Students
Garrett Davis

Mr. Davis serves as Dean of Students at the Muskogee 7th & 8th Grade Academy. Prior to joining the 7th & 8th Grade Academy prior to the 2020-2021 school year, Davis spent one year at the 6th Grade Academy @ Grant Foreman as Assistant Principal. He previously served as Athletic Director of Muskogee Public Schools from 2014 to 2019.
Prior to joining MPS, he was the Principal of Eufaula High School and Wewoka High School. He previously spent two years as Pre-K through 12th-grade principal at Maud Public Schools. Mr. Davis is in his 17th year as a school administrator and 24th year in education.
Garrett earned his Master’s of Arts in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Arts in Science of Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Davis has been an India (Oklahoma City) and Bedouin (Muskogee) Shriners since 1994. A member of the McAlester Scottish Rite since 1992 and a Mason since 1992.
Garrett is married to Lyndie and the couple has a daughter, Hadleigh, and a son, Baxter.
