Mr. Buell is in his fourth year as principal of the 8th & 9th Grade Academy at Alice Robertson. He joined Muskogee Public Schools from Tulsa Public Schools where he spent nearly ten years as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and assistant principal. Mr. Buell was named Teacher of the Year for the 2012-13 school year at Tulsa’s Edison Preparatory School. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mr. Buell earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education with an emphasis in Urban Education. He earned his Master of Education in Educational Administration from Northeastern State University. Mr. Buell serves as a Deacon at Harvard Avenue Christian Church.

Anayai Cooper makes the transition to the 8th & 9th Grade Academy at Alice Robertson for the 2021-2022 school year.
Cooper joined the Muskogee 7th & 8th Grade Academy at Ben Franklin administration in 2020-2021 after previously serving as an assistant principal at Muskogee High School since 2017.
She previously was the Assistant Principal at Ben Franklin Science Academy from 2011-2017. Cooper taught Middle School Reading from 2008-2011 at BFSA. Prior to her time at BFSA, Cooper was an elementary teacher at Irving Elementary beginning in 2000.
Cooper earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and a Master’s of Education from Northeastern State University. In 2010, she was named BFSA Site Teacher of the Year.
Anayai has three adult children and is the proud grandparent of a granddaughter. Her husband is the Assistant Pastor at Faith Deliverance Christian Center in Muskogee. An avid reader with a voracious appetite for books about the Holocaust. In her spare time, Cooper loves spending time with her children and her church family.

Gary Gunckel has nearly 30 years of experience in education and is in his third year at Muskogee Public Schools. He has served in many roles during his educational career including; teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and head principal. He has been a strong advocate of building positive relationships with students, teachers, and families throughout his career. He is looking forward to working with the strong leadership at Muskogee High School.
Gary has been married to Melissa Gunckel for 28 years and has two grown children in college, Troy (23) and Leah (20). In his free time, Gary enjoys fishing, golf, and attending sporting events. He and his wife also serve as the young adult leaders at Muskogee First Assembly.
