The purpose of the Muskogee High School Library Media program is to provide students and staff intellectual and physical access to ideas and information, to stimulate interest in using information and ideas, to instruct students in how to find, evaluate and use information and to instill in the students an enjoyment and appreciation of literature. Basic information skills must be taught and followed up with assignments that give practice in those skills. To achieve these purposes, the library media specialist select the best materials available, efficiently organize and circulate these resources in a centralized collection, and team up with the teacher to plan a program of instruction for students. A coordinated effort and commitment of the district, school administration and school staff contributes to the success of the program.
No food is allowed in the media center.
Students must have a pass from class to be in the media center during class hours unless accompanied by their teacher.
Seating capacity in the media center is 150. The library media center houses some 15,000+ titles, including numerous microforms, software programs, and computer databases that are accessed via the Internet. A large collection of ebooks have also been added. It has been reorganized in order to efficiently accommodate students and staff.
