Parents of 8th–11th graders — Apply Now for Oklahoma’s Promise!

Oklahoma’s Promise is a state scholarship program that makes college or technology center tuition more affordable for students who meet specific income, academic, and conduct requirements. Established by the Oklahoma Legislature and administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the program has helped thousands of Oklahoma families open doors to higher education.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be Oklahoma residents.

  • Be in the 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. (Homeschooled students must be between the ages of 13 and 16.)

  • Promise to meet the program’s academic, attendance, and conduct requirements throughout high school.

  • Have a parent or legal guardian whose federal adjusted gross income (AGI) does not exceed:

    • $60,000 with 1 or 2 dependent children

    • $70,000 with 3 or 4 dependent children

    • $80,000 with 5 or more dependent children

There are also special income considerations for:

  • Children adopted from certain court-ordered custody situations.

  • Students living under the custody of a court-appointed legal guardian.

  • Students receiving Social Security survivor or disability benefits due to a parent’s death or disability.

What Does the Program Provide?

Students who qualify and complete the requirements will receive a tuition scholarship that covers in-state tuition at public colleges and universities or a portion of tuition at approved private colleges and technology centers in Oklahoma.

The scholarship does not cover room and board, books, or other fees—but it greatly reduces the cost burden for families striving to make higher education a reality for their child.

How to Apply

Families can apply online at www.okpromise.org or contact the Oklahoma’s Promise office for additional information and guidance. It’s important to apply while the student is in 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade—once a student enters 12th grade, it is too late to apply.

If you have any questions or need assistance applying, please don’t hesitate to contact your school counselor.
