In September 2025, Muskogee Public Schools conducted a community survey to gather feedback from students, families, staff, and community members. The seven-question survey was designed to:

  • Help guide Muskogee Public Schools short and long-term priorities

  • Gain feedback on current district services and initiatives

  • Understand overall perceptions of district quality


Response Overview

A total of 600 respondents participated in the survey, including:

  • Community Members: 6.2% (37 respondents)

  • Parents/Guardians: 51% (306 respondents)

  • Students: 14.3% (86 respondents)

  • Certified Staff: 18.8% (113 respondents)

  • Support Staff: 7% (42 respondents)

  • Administrators: 2.7% (16 respondents)

Survey respondents were also asked how long they have been part of the school community:

  • More than 6 years: 57.7% (346 respondents)

  • 4–6 years: 16% (96 respondents)

  • 1–3 years: 17.7% (106 respondents)

  • Less than 1 year: 8.6% (52 respondents)


Preparing Students for College and Career

Respondents rated their level of agreement with the statement, “I feel students are being well prepared for college and/or career pathways.”

  • Strongly Agree: 11.2% (67 respondents)

  • Agree: 33.5% (201 respondents)

  • Neutral: 32.2% (193 respondents)

  • Disagree: 15.5% (93 respondents)

  • Strongly Disagree: 7.7% (46 respondents)

Overall, 76.9% of respondents strongly agreed, agreed, or were neutral that students are being well prepared for college and career pathways, while 23.1% disagreed or strongly disagreed, reflecting a broadly positive view of student readiness.


Family and Community Partnerships

Respondents also rated the statement, “I feel Muskogee Public Schools effectively utilizes and values family and community partnerships.”

  • Strongly Agree: 17.2% (103 respondents)

  • Agree: 38.2% (229 respondents)

  • Neutral: 28.8% (173 respondents)

  • Disagree: 11.8% (71 respondents)

  • Strongly Disagree: 4% (24 respondents)

Combined, 84.2% of respondents were neutral, agreed, or strongly agreed that the district values family and community partnerships, showing strong community support. Only 15.8% disagreed or strongly disagreed.


Safety and Security

Respondents rated the statement, “I feel Muskogee Public Schools has appropriate protocols in place to ensure safety during instructional days and school-sponsored events.”

  • Strongly Agree: 15.8% (95 respondents)

  • Agree: 42.5% (255 respondents)

  • Neutral: 22.5% (135 respondents)

  • Disagree: 13.3% (80 respondents)

  • Strongly Disagree: 5.8% (35 respondents)

When combined, 80.8% of respondents were neutral, agreed, or strongly agreed that safety protocols are appropriate and effective. Only 19.1% expressed disagreement or strong disagreement, indicating high confidence in district safety measures.


Communication Effectiveness

Respondents were asked which form of district communication they find most effective:

  • Website: 3.8% (23 respondents)

  • Social Media (Facebook, Instagram): 14.2% (85 respondents)

  • Text Message: 35% (210 respondents)

  • Email: 16.8% (101 respondents)

  • ParentSquare: 18.2% (109 respondents)

  • Class Dojo: 12% (72 respondents)


Community Feedback and Opportunities for Growth

When asked how their involvement or engagement could help improve the school community, respondents shared ideas and suggestions that highlight both pride in the district and a desire to see continued growth.

Parent and Community Involvement:
Many respondents showed enthusiasm for deeper involvement, such as volunteering, serving on committees, or sharing professional expertise through career talks or mentorship opportunities. Some noted that increased opportunities and flexibility for family participation would help strengthen connections between home and school.

Focus on Student and Staff Wellbeing:
Community members emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all students and staff. Feedback reflected appreciation for existing safety measures and encouraged continued attention to mental health, special education resources, and positive school culture.

Increased Communication and Transparency:
Respondents noted the value of continued transparency in sharing information about district decisions, events, and academic updates. Many appreciated existing communication efforts and encouraged consistency across schools and platforms to keep families informed.

Curriculum and Academic Focus:
Respondents shared a strong interest in academics and preparation for future success, with several highlighting the value of college and career readiness, life skills, and scholarship support. Suggestions also included continued refinement of curriculum and expanding opportunities for academic enrichment.

Facilities and Operations:
Several respondents recognized recent facility improvements and expressed support for continued upgrades, including addressing health and safety concerns such as elevators, locks, plumbing, and lighting, to ensure safe, well-maintained learning environments across all campuses.
