Muskogee High School senior Gareth McJunkin has been named a 2026 Oklahoma Academic All-Stater by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, marking the first time in 13 years that an MHS student has received the prestigious honor.
Each year, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence selects 100 graduating seniors from across the state for this distinction. Honorees are chosen through a rigorous application process that considers academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and character.
For Muskogee High School, Gareth’s recognition represents both an individual accomplishment and a significant milestone for the school community. His achievement now joins other notable accolades on the district’s Academic Honors & Distinctions page:https://www.muskogeeps.org/page/academic-honors-distinctions
“Gareth exemplifies the dedication and determination we strive to cultivate in all of our students,” said Kinsey Clark, Muskogee High School Principal. “This honor reflects not only his hard work, but also the commitment of our teachers and staff who support students in reaching their highest potential. We are incredibly proud of him.”
Earlier this year, Gareth was also awarded a full four-year scholarship to Dartmouth College through the QuestBridge National College Match, further highlighting his academic excellence and bright future ahead.
Academic All-Staters will be formally recognized at the annual Academic Awards Banquet later this spring.
Muskogee Public Schools celebrates Gareth’s achievement and the example he sets for future Roughers. His accomplishment underscores the continued growth and academic excellence at Muskogee High School.
