As previously shared, Muskogee Public Schools has paused the current timeline for a potential 2027 bond proposal while the district gathers additional information and considers the best path forward. At this time, no bond election has been called and no final bond proposal has been approved.
The survey results below reflect the feedback received during the district's recent community survey and are being shared as part of the ongoing long-range planning process.
In August 2026, Muskogee Public Schools conducted a community survey to gather feedback from patrons on proposed priorities for a potential 2027 bond issue. The survey was designed to:
Gather community input on proposed bond projects and priorities
Help the Long-Range Planning Committee understand which district needs are most important to patrons
Provide community feedback as the Long-Range Planning Committee continues its work and considers next steps
The survey was available August 24 through September 4, 2026, and was open to MPS families, staff, students, and community members.
Elementary Site Improvements
Survey respondents were asked whether they support replacing elementary school buildings that are more than 60 years old and have reached the end of their useful life:
Very Supportive: 62.1% (300 respondents)
Supportive: 23.6% (114 respondents)
Neutral: 5.6% (27 respondents)
Not Supportive: 2.7% (13 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 6% (29 respondents)
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support rebuilding Cherokee and Irving Elementary Schools on their current sites to provide students with safer and more functional learning environments:
Very Supportive: 61.9% (299 respondents)
Supportive: 20.9% (101 respondents)
Neutral: 6.6% (32 respondents)
Not Supportive: 5% (24 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 5.6% (27 respondents)
Secondary Site Improvements
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support the need to remodel the 6th and 7th Grade Academy to better meet the academic and instructional needs of students:
Very Supportive: 57.8% (279 respondents)
Supportive: 22.2% (107 respondents)
Neutral: 8.9% (43 respondents)
Not Supportive: 5% (24 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 6.2% (30 respondents)
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support the need to renovate the original restrooms and hallways at Muskogee High School, which were built almost 60 years ago, to improve the facilities students use every day:
Very Supportive: 59.6% (288 respondents)
Supportive: 19.7% (95 respondents)
Neutral: 9.9% (48 respondents)
Not Supportive: 4.1% (20 respondents)

Student Services
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support investing in updated instructional materials, classroom resources, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to better support student learning across the district:
Very Supportive: 59.8% (289 respondents)
Supportive: 23.6% (114 respondents)
Neutral: 7% (34 respondents)
Not Supportive: 4.1% (20 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 5.4% (26 respondents)
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support investments in athletics and fine arts to provide students with the resources and opportunities needed to participate and succeed in these programs:
Very Supportive: 51.3% (248 respondents)
Supportive: 17.2% (83 respondents)
Neutral: 13.5% (65 respondents)
Not Supportive: 7.5% (36 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 10.6% (51 respondents)
Maintenance & Land
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support investing in major maintenance needs, including HVAC systems, roofs, and parking areas, to ensure students have well-maintained schools:
Very Supportive: 66.7% (322 respondents)
Supportive: 22.2% (107 respondents)
Neutral: 4.8% (23 respondents)
Not Supportive: 2.3% (11 respondents)

Survey respondents were also asked whether they support acquiring land or property to help MPS prepare for future student needs, growth, and district development:

Technology and Security
Survey respondents were also asked whether they support investing in updated technology and classroom tools to ensure students and teachers have the resources needed for learning:
Very Supportive: 55.5% (268 respondents)
Supportive: 21.1% (102 respondents)
Neutral: 12.8% (62 respondents)
Not Supportive: 4.3% (21 respondents)

Survey respondents were also asked whether they support upgrading security cameras and keyless entry systems to provide students and staff with safer school environments:
Very Supportive: 64.6% (312 respondents)
Supportive: 19.3% (93 respondents)
Neutral: 8.5% (41 respondents)
Not Supportive: 2.5% (12 respondents)
Not Supportive at All: 5.2% (25 respondents)
Community Feedback
Facility Infrastructure and Maintenance: Community members highlighted the need for essential repairs and improvements across existing school buildings, including persistent roof leaks, outdated HVAC systems, and deteriorating classroom flooring.
Safety and Security Enhancements: Community members shared support for increased campus security, including metal detectors at school entrances, improved exterior door security, and other measures to help provide safer school environments.
Technology and Learning Resources: Many comments expressed support for updating and replacing technology across the district, including classroom technology and other tools used by students and teachers.
Fine Arts Facilities: Community members identified the need for critical improvements to the Fine Arts Auditorium, including stage safety features and other facility upgrades.
Transportation: Transportation was also mentioned in community feedback, with respondents sharing concerns and suggestions related to student transportation and district transportation needs.
Land Acquisition: Some community members expressed that the district should not include the purchase of additional land or property as part of the proposed bond projects.
