Muskogee Public Schools is offering FREE breakfast and lunch daily to every student this 2024-25 school year! 🍎🥪

Welcome to the Rougher Family! 💚 Today, we hosted our new employee orientation, where we warmly welcomed our amazing new teachers. A big thank you to TTCU Federal Credit Union for sponsoring breakfast to kick off the day!

Muskogee Public Schools families,
We want to make all families at Cherokee Elementary, Creek Elementary, Tony Goetz Elementary, the 6th & 7th Grade Academy, and the 8th & 9th Grade Academy aware that the previous after-school program funding ended on June 30, 2024, and this program is no longer available.
However, we are pleased to announce that Pershing Elementary has been awarded a grant to offer after-school programming for the 2024-2025 school year. This program will be exclusive to Pershing students.
We know this transition may be challenging, and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to provide the best possible options for our students. We will notify Pershing students and their families with more details about the new program and enrollment soon.
Thank you for your continued support of MPS!
MPS Administrative Retreat 2024!
This week, our administrators came together to explore the theme of hospitality. A big thank you to our guest speaker, Lonnie Barker, for sharing valuable insights that will help us create a welcoming environment for our school community. We also enjoyed a day of team building, strengthening our bonds and preparing for the year ahead. We’re excited to kick off the 2024-2025 school year!

📢 Important New Law and Policy Update 📢
We want to inform you about an important new policy regarding communication between MPS staff and students. This policy, based on House Bill 3958, was to be adopted by local school boards effective July 1, 2024. The MPS Board of Education approved this policy at the June 25th board meeting.
Policy Overview: All MPS staff must only use the school-approved platforms listed below for communicating with students.
Approved Communication Platforms:
(1) School Email: Communication with students via school-provided email addresses is permitted. (2) Text Messages: Text communication is allowed only in groups with a minimum of 5 students and 2 MPS staff members. Text messages with fewer than 5 students must include the students' parents/guardians.
Note: MPS intends to remove the text messaging option at the regular July board meeting and add new district-approved communication platforms.
To view the full policy please use the link provided: Section 6: 106220 Staff Members and Electronic or Digital Communication

Attention All Students, Parents, and Staff:
From June 29 through July 7, all District Athletic facilities will be off limits to students entering grades 6-12 due to the OSSAA Dead Period. During this time, there can be no contact between Coaches and Students, and no use of District athletic venues for athletic instruction, training, or participation.
Coaches are allowed to perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning storage areas, mowing fields, and office work during this period. However, all athletic facilities will be completely off limits to all 6th-12th grade students to avoid negatively affecting eligibility for both Coaches and Students.
Additionally, we will be refinishing gym floors at BFSA, AR, MHS, and Rougher Village gyms next week. These gyms will be off limits to all students and staff members.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Military Mondays! 💪 During this year's summer practices, the Muskogee Rougher Football team will honor our service men and women by wearing practice shirts featuring the names of each military branch. "Military Mondays" is their way of showing support and gratitude to those who protect our freedoms.

We are thrilled to announce that Muskogee’s very own Head Football Coach Travis Hill has been named the 2023-2024 All-World Boys Coach of the Year! This award is a true testament to Coach Hill's leadership on and off the field.
In addition, we would like to congratulate Jamarian Ficklin, Senior Quarterback, for being honored as the Top Offensive Football Player of the Year. Jamarian's talent and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and we are so proud of his accomplishments.
The 2024 All-World Awards Banquet is an event that recognizes the outstanding achievements of Tulsa-area high school athletes and coaches, and we are honored to have Coach Hill and Jamarian represent Muskogee Public Schools at this event. Congratulations to all! 🎉🏈
