Muskogee Public Schools understands that many families in our community rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to help provide meals at home. Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will likely be temporarily interrupted beginning November 1. We recognize this situation may cause uncertainty and concern for some members of our school family. Please know you are not alone, we are here to help.
Meals at School
All Muskogee Public Schools students continue to receive free breakfast and lunch each school day, regardless of SNAP status or household income.
District and Community Resources
To help connect families with additional support, MPS has launched a new Family Resources page that includes both district and community assistance programs.
District programs include:
Backpack Programs at all elementary schools and the Early Childhood Center (ECC) that provide students with food to take home for weekends and school breaks.
On-Campus Food Pantry at Muskogee High School, located in the MHS Library, available to MHS students.
Irving Community Pantry, a small outdoor pantry maintained by Irving Elementary and supported through community donations.
The page also features a Muskogee Area Community Resources guide, which lists local food pantries, free meals, housing and shelter assistance, medical care, clothing, childcare services, counseling, transportation, and financial support. Families can also find information on Native food assistance programs.
Additional Support
Parents and guardians can dial 211 for information about food banks, pantries, and community programs across Oklahoma.
Although this situation is beyond our control, Muskogee Public Schools remains committed to supporting our students and families and ensuring every child has access to the resources they need.
